Welcome to The 112^th IUVSTA Workshop on Advances in Biomedical Plasma and Surface Engineering (ABPSE)

The 112^th IUVSTA Workshop on Advances in Biomedical Plasma and Surface Engineering (ABPSE) will be organized by the Institute of Electronics at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, in cooperation the Medical University of Pleven, the Technical University of Gabrovo, and the Union of Physicists in Bulgaria. The workshop will take place in Borovets, Bulgaria from 16 to 20 March 2027.

The112^th IUVSTA Workshop on Advances in Biomedical Plasma and Surface Engineering is an international forum which aims to bring together leading researchers and young scientists from academia and industry, working at the intersection of materials science, plasma physics, surface engineering, and healthcare technologies. A central theme of the workshop is the development and application of advanced surface engineering and plasma-based techniques aimed at tailoring the physicochemical, mechanical, and biological properties of biomedical materials for the development of next-generation implants, prosthetic devices, and drug-delivery systems.  Among the most important targets are enhanced biocompatibility and cytocompatibility, improved osseointegration and tissue integration, increased corrosion and wear resistance, optimized surface wettability and energy, and improved mechanical stability and durability.

The workshop will include invited lectures from the lead experts, contribution talks, and poster presentations. There will be time for critical discussions, encourage collaboration and exchange, and an attempt to draw conclusions about open questions.

The official language of the 112^th IUVSTA Workshop is English.
